The African Methodist Episcopal Church was born in 1787 when Richard Allen and Absalom Jones walked out of St. George's Methodist Episcopal Church in Philadelphia and built a church where Black Christians could worship in dignity. Pearson Memorial AME carries that witness into High Point, North Carolina — a people built on prayer, sustained by grace, and moving on up.
